Bon Voyage

Tomorrow we leave for our vacation! We are just soooooo excited! Warm sun, swimming in the ocean, snorkeling, and much more…as long as we can make it to the airport–since they are supposed to be getting 6 inches of snow or so. Oh well, it will just make the sun even more enjoyable on the cruise! :0) We’ll tell you all about it when we get back in a few weeks! Love you all!!

A day at the farm

On Sunday, we visited with friends from church at their home. They are in the midst of calving season, so they invited us to see some of their new baby calves. Oh so cute! The kids just loved it. One calf was even born while we were eating our lunch–(no we did not watch it while we were eating). Each calf is named, and Bryce got to pick the name of the newest calf. He named it Inky (it was black). Abbi named one Fuzzy. After petting some of the calves, we went and saw the horses, dog, cats, and bunnies too (almost like our own personal petting zoo). The kids didn’t even seem to notice that it was sleeting on us the whole time. Oh this MN weather…… Here are some pictures.

Like Mother, like daughters?

I just couldn’t resist snapping this photo of the girls playing video games! Bryce has been playing Donkey Kong for nintendo 64 (I know–practically from the dark ages). He came to his mother for help (imagine that) when he couldn’t win a challenge in the game. The last time I played the game was about 7 years ago. Anyway, it has sparked that video game bug in my system, and Bryce and I have been playing the game together the last week. Now it looks like the girls want in on the action, too. (Sorry for the red eye…I forgot to activate it on my camera)

Snow and Ice

After receiving about a foot of snow last week, we had a warmer weekend (warmer meaning it was in the 30s) which resulted in some nice ice formations. The first picture shows some icicles in one of our trees. The picture to the right shows how long some of our icicles have gotten. When Jenn was about Bryce’s age (7), she tried to break an icicle off of the roof with an empty, plastic pop bottle. She did succeed in breaking down the icicle, unfortunately she also succeeded in breaking the window. Oops!

A visit with Grandparents

This last weekend, Jenn and the kids made a trip out west to see the great-grandparents. Great Grandpa Artie and Great Grandma Mary are on the left and Great Grandma Esther is on the right. Jenn’s sister Heidi came along on the visit and her kids and two nieces joined us for our picture with grandma Esther. What a full house that was! We had sooooo much fun on our visit. We just wish we could see them more often.

First Walleye!?

Rick went fishing with a friend from Karlstad last November and took the boat out just before the river started to freeze over. The friend just got the picture developed (old school ;-). So, here’s the pic of Rick’s first walleye ever caught (not the first time walleye fishing…probably about the 40th time). He caught it on the Rainy River up by Baudette. She was a beaut. She was also the only one caught all day (it was early November and the temp was between 20 and 0 degrees). Oh well, at least it was a decent sized fish for only catching one.

Our life in general…

It’s been quite some time since we have posted. In short, we have been busy with life. Cambria celebrated her 2nd birthday on the 6th, and Jenn celebrated her 30th on the 19th. Rick and Jenn went to a pastor’s conference in Rochester for several days, and we got to experience the joys of vehichle “problems” that no one can find. That is until the vehicle is completely dead and a tow is needed. So much fun!! Oh well, that is life! God takes care of us in the highs and lows! We’ve been experiencing the worst computer problems the last two weeks, which is mainly the reason for the lack of a new post. Things seem to be working now, so more posts will be in order! We love you all!!

Norwegian=Lefse

We good Norwegians of the North did a very wonderful Norwegian thing! Not only did we fill our Norwegian stomachs with yummy lefse, we decided to make the lefse ourselves! What good Norwegians we are!! Here are Jenn’s parents and sister Amber doing their part.

"Gingerbread" house

Abbi had her preschool Christmas program the other day and afterward we made gingerbread houses. Well, it wasn’t exactly a gingerbread house, it was a graham cracker house, but that’s not important. It was fun to make the house together since I have never made a “gingerbread” house myself. She did a great job singing all the songs, shaking the Christmas bells, and saying her little lines, as well. Cambria had to make sure she was in the program, too and performed the pre-show selection of “Twinkle, twinkle little star.”
